COMMANDER’S COMMENTS

Together, members of The American Legion, The American
Legion Auxiliary, and the Sons of The American Legion make
up what is known as The Legion Family.

These organizations place high importance on preserving our
American traditions and values,  improving the quality of life
for our nation’s children, caring for veterans and their
families, and perhaps most importantly, teaching the
fundamentals of good citizenship.

We have another year in the Post History and I want to thank
every that made this past year a success.  I want to give a
special "Thank You" from me to all Legion members, Ladies
Auxiliary, and Sons.  We could not have the successful year
as we did without all your help!

When you are at the Post, please respect your follow
Legionnaires and conduct yourself in a proper manner and
watch your language.  We are serious about these issues.

For God and Country we associate ourselves together.

APRIL/MAY 2010

I'm finishing up my year as your Commander, and
it has been a great honor for me to serve you.

During the past year Post 21 Legion family gave
assistance to veterans in need of routine and
emergency aid, sent six (6) young men to Boys
State and four (4) young ladies to Girls State to
learn about government, presented nine (9)
scholarships to students at our local high
schools, participated in ceremonies on Veterans
Day and Memorial Day at Shenandoah Memorial
Park, provided lunch to all veterans in the area
who could attend on Veterans Day and sponsored
a baseball team that represented us very well.
We provided a bus trip for our Veterans to the
D-Day Memorial in Bedford, VA.  We also Provided
Christmas baskets to needy families and had a
very successful Family picnic.

We reached our 100% goal for membership
which qualified our Post for The Admirals Award.
A special thank you to Jim Lamp and Frank
Messer who assisted in reminding our veterans
who did not pay their dues prior to Dec 31, 2009
in reaching this goal.

We are in the process of forming an Honor Guard.
Anyone interested in participating, please give
me a call at the Post.

Our next Post election of officers will be held
from 1-6 PM on May 13 at the Post.  I urge all to
come in and vote for the candidates of your
choice.

For God and Country we associate ourselves
together.
