| While many people may think of the American Legion as 'just another bar' and picture in their minds old Veterans sitting around drinking beer and talking about some past war, whether their own or the war that their fathers or grandfathers - mothers or grandmothers served in, nothing could be farther from the truth. We support and believe in helping our follow Veterans, both past and active duty, as well as their families getting though the difficult times of seeing their loved one being deployed or all the things that might happen at home while they are away. We also believe in supporting and helping out in our local communities and high schools, as well as the youth of today. Here is just a partial list of some of the local area charities that we help with donations in the thousands of dollars, man hours, or both each year, some of which are: |
| LORD FAIRFAX AREA FOOD BANK THE SHELTER FOR ABUSED WOMEN SPECIAL OLYMPICS OF VIRGINIA FREDERICK COUNTRY SHERIFF'S YOUTH CAMP EVENS HOME FOR CHILDREN CHILD PARENT CENTER ADULT CARE CENTER MDA SCHOLARSHIPS TO ALL OF THE AREA HIGH SCHOOLS AMERICAN CANCER ASSN TOP OF VIRGINIA BOYS STATE CCAP BIG BROTHERS/BIG SISTERS ACCESS INDEPENDENCE WE ALSO RECEIVE REQUESTS FOR HELP FROM PRIVATE CITIZENS AND CHILDREN AND THEIR REQUESTS ARE DISCUSSED AND VOTED ON AT THE FOLLOWING MONTHLY MEETING WE SUPPORT OUR LOCAL POLICE, SHERIFF'S DEPT, AND OUR LOCAL NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILIES, AS WELL AS THE ABOVE AND OTHER CHARITIES. |
| POST #21 HAS BEEN PROVIDING SERVICE TO VETERANS, THEIR FAMILIES, AND THE COMMUNITY IN THE FREDERICK COUNTY AND WINCHESTER AREA FOR MORE THAN 85 YEARS, AND YET WE STILL MANAGE TO GET TOGETHER AND ENJOY OUR TIME WITH OUR FAMILY & FRIENDS AT THE POST HOME WITH FUN EVENTS THAT INCLUDE BOTH, THE WHOLE FAMILY AND ALSO FOR JUST MEMBERS ONLY.
